Eating Raw: Day One

Last night we made a list and ran off to whole foods. In my experience, whole foods is much more expensive than sprouts, but our list had some weird ingredients on it that I knew sprouts wouldn't have. The book had a great list of items to stock your kitchen with to make virtually every recipe in the book.
When we got home we had a beautifully stocked fridge!

This morning I sprang out of bed. I was so excited to make some yummy fruit stew for my family.

Full of fruit- TONS of fruit- and has a yummy frothy "sauce" over it. It was a hit!! Little man, daddy and mommy ALL loved it!

My morning coffee got a little revamp too! I used almond milk and pure honey instead of my creamer and sugar. It was better and so delish!!

For lunch I had a big salad full of tender ruby reds lettuce mix, dried cranberries, almonds, feta and blush wine dressing. It was delish, but I didn't take a photo- it was just your everyday yummo salad! For snacks I munched on nuts, fruit and red bell peppers. But, I have to say, I wasn't very hungry in between meals! The meals are VERY filling!

For Dinner I made Pasta Marinara out of the book.

It was AMAZING! The sauce was superb and with the sliced zucchini and squash, I didn't miss the "noodles" at all!
Little man and Daddy added sausage to theirs and loved it too!

Dessert was Cashew gelato.

The carob powder is going to take some getting used to, as is the cashew butter, but it was really yummy and very rich.

Some thoughts on day one:

I love the energy I had today! I felt good and was proud of what I was putting in my body. I didn't have late night snacking, didn't eat out of boredom and didn't crave sweets {too much =) }. I think, if I am 100% honest, it is going to be harder than I thought. {don't worry, i am sticking to it and everything I have ready says that it takes a good 4-5 days to adjust your taste buds) It is just different eating things cold, and having to wrap my taste buds around the natural tastes of things. I think I will get to a place where I love it- right now I am in "like" with it...lol. I took my weight today and am going to be monitoring that too, just to see how much of a difference that makes!

That is amazing! I've always been interested in strict vegetarianism/veganism. (My degree is in Nutrition- I drive my family crazy as the Organic and Vitamin Nazi, LOL!).... keep us updated! Let us know if you think the price is a lot higher, too- that's one big thing holding me back right now!
